Euthanasia Services for Pets

Here at Bank Street Animal Hospital we are pet parents just like you. We know how heartbreaking it is to witness your pet near the end of their life. For pets with chronic pain or illnesses that can no longer be managed with medical care, euthanasia is often the most humane option. We will be with you every step of the way during your pet’s end-of-life care. Please do not hesitate to call us at 613.695.2060 with any of your concerns and we will do our best to address them.

How does euthanasia work in pets?

Euthanasia involves injecting your pet with a medication that causes them to fall into a peaceful sleep. Once unconscious, it will cause their organs to fail until they are no longer alive. Your pet will feel no pain whatsoever and the process takes only a matter of minutes.

Can I be with my pet during their euthanasia?

Absolutely. We create a comforting environment for you and your pet so you can say your goodbyes in peace. We have a private area used to perform the procedure and you will have as much time as you need to bid farewell. We recommend bringing your pet’s favourite toys or blankets to make them feel even more at ease.

Dear Clients,

With recent changes to restrictions on businesses, we are pleased to advise that effective May 25, 2020 the restrictions on veterinary practices have been lifted. Based on these changes, below are some important updates to our operating policies.

1. WE CAN NOW SEE ALL CASES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY This includes vaccines, wellness exams, blood work, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!

  • Continue our "closed waiting room" policy to protect our clients and staff. When you arrive, please remain outside the hospital and use your cell phone to call us. We will take a history of your pet's health and discuss any concerns. A staff member will then meet you outside to bring your pet into the hospital for an examination. The Veterinarian will call you to discuss the recommended treatment plan. After your appointment, a staff member will return your pet to you outside, and take care of any needed medications and payment.
  • Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.
  • Continue with curbside pickup of food and medication (unless you have used our online store and are having your order delivered directly to your home). To place an order through our online store, visit our website and click on "Online Store".
  • 3. OPERATING HOURS We are OPEN with the following hours:
Monday to Friday: 7:30 am - 7:30 pm
    Saturday: 8:00 am - 2 pm
    Sunday: Closed
